Bergen is a must to visit on the west coast, a lot of culture, history, and close to the nature.

BERGEN

The west coasts capital Bergen, well worth a visit if you will be gone paddling or just staing in the city..

Close to the nature, but also the city life.

In bergen you will explore a Norwegian city, but still feel you are in the countryside.

Bergen is surrounded by mountains and fjords, including Sognefjord, the country’s longest and deepest. Bryggen features colorful wooden houses on the old wharf, once a center of the Hanseatic League's trading empire. The Fløibanen Funicular goes up Fløyen Mountain for panoramic views and hiking trails. The Edvard Grieg House is where the renowned composer once lived.

What to do in Bergen?

You can enjoy the nature in the morning and explore the citylife in the evening. You do not need to travel to Flåm or Gudvangen for exploring the fjord.

join a sightseeing boat on the fjord, or do a guided kayaktour when you are here, both are on top 10 to do in Bergen.

Øygarden outside Bergen is Norways best place to kayak, it is amazing.

Say hello to one of the brown crabs running under your kayak, or to the salmon jumping next to you, amazing nature moments are really close to Bergen.

Fløyen is also well worth a visit, great view over the city from the top of the mountain.

Øyvind love Bergen, on his last visit he did this:

Travel letter from Øyvind Stuvik:

I always love to see the life in the harbour and always goes here when i want to see the boats, and fish market.

I love to see the fish market even if i often do not buy anything.

Often i drop into a local sushi place . Fish on places like this in Bergen use to be fresh. I also love to just suck in the atmosphere of this small amazing Norwegian city.

After exploreing the harbour of Bergen i need some cool activites to do. I was looking for a soft adventure with a lot of nature and maybe a place where i could learn something new.

I went on a guided tour from Fjordexpedition AS, crab fishing and outdoor cooking.

We where picked up at the toursitinformation in Bergen in a nice 9 seat van and by a friendly guide.

The group today was 7 people and from the whole wourld.

After a stunning driving tour of 40 minuts with amazing view and local stories told by the guide we where at Syltøy.

Here we dress up for a boat trip. Lifejacket, rainjacket , and waterproof boots.

Then a safety brief before we enter the open but staible boat.

We go for crab fishing, after 1,5 hours in the boat we have catched several mackerell, brown crab and some small schrimps.

This was amazing to see and explore.

Well back at the base and seahouse the guide show us some brilliant cooking skills.

The schrimps went into a small sushi starter, mackerell where cooked in a pan with butter, the taste was unbelivable!

And then after 30 minuts of boiling the crabs and main dish was ready, i have no words, it taste like heaven. For me this was better then the best resturant in town.

The combination of nature, taste, smell, and activity was for me the best. I recomend this tour.

This must bo one of the best activities to do in Bergen.
