Plan a kayaking trip into the legendary Lysefjord, an adventure of a lifetime for experienced paddlers. We have the kayak and all the other equipment you’ll need, but you must feel secure kayaking at sea, and have the skills to save yourself, or someone in your group, in the event of an emergency.
Season March – November
From our rental base in the village of Forsand, it’s possible for experienced kayakers to paddle directly into the legendary Lysefjord. Weather, wind, and waves can shift rapidly, so paddlers must be prepared for a variety of weather conditions, and be able to rescue themselves or others in the event of an emergency.
This is the trip for Vikings and experienced paddlers, which we promise to be an adventure of a lifetime!
The Complete Package
We offer rentals of single sea kayaks for both single and multi-day excursions into the Lysefjord. We also offer rental of camping equipment including sleeping mats, tents, and cooking equipment.
For Experienced Paddlers Only
Paddling the entire length of the Lysefjord takes between two and four days, depending on weather conditions and each paddlers’ abilities.
For safety reasons, people who wish to rent our sea kayaks must hold a certification in rescue skills (NPF, BCU, ACA, EPP or other recognized National Kayaking Association).
We do not rent kayaks to solo paddlers in the Lysefjord.
Hiking & Camping
While kayaking, there are many nice campsites and beaches that you can stop at along the Lysefjord. Along with your rental equipment, we’ll provide you with a waterproof map of the area, which gives an overview of camping sites. On Fjord Norway’s website, you’ll find suggestions for hiking tours that you can combine with kayaking trips in the Lysefjord.
Please review our safety information and information about kayak rentals before booking.
If you have never paddled before, we recommend our guided kayak tours.
